113. That was actually quite an interesting and entertaining read. And I understand how you feel, I have a hard time openly bashing the works of someone who praises any of my work.
115. This weekend, I'm going to my 5th furry con. I've met people who fit the stereotype, and people who don't. Yes, I realize that stereotypes DO come from somewhere, but seriously, if it scares you away from a fandom, meh, I see no reason to try to convince you otherwise. *shrugs*
125. :/ I've heard. And I'm a bit uneasy about the fact that some of the songs I'd rather not associate with it. But ah well.
128. Oh, my friends are pretty cool with me saying stuff like that in front of them :D They sometimes roll their eyes, but yeah...
140. Ok, while I don't feel one way or another about Hetalia, I really don't understand that attitude of "If I happen to like how you draw, you should use it to draw things I like, or else I'll say you're wasting your talent."

144. Oh, I don't think I ever got around to finishing that book! Mostly because when I checked it out from the library a few years ago, I ended up losing it somewhere and not finding it until it was way overdue...so yeah, I still think of it as the book that got me in trouble. :P

159. I've seen plenty of non-slashy, non-shippy wacky fics. But years ago, and I'm not even sure if said fics are still around. Has the fandom changed much since then?

166. Aggh, THAT is exactly one of the reasons I wish I was more...internet-known. I like the idea of being a normal, everyday person, then logging in and suddenly being "Someone" who tons of people admire....meh, I've convinced myself it's partly luck, who becomes "famous" and who stays "unknown"...
171. Oh, the things I've done in the Sims....especially funny because I play at my friend's house, and she makes "normal" families, then my cracked out Sims come to visit them.... :D

TB3. Probably because of the knowledge that he's SUPPOSED to be "sexy" instead of "scary"?
TB5. Ok, confession time. I was linked to a video of that about a year ago on a message board. I....got a bit emotional. I also watched the movie several times when I was about 4 or 5. I didn't cry then. Strange how that works.
ltas. I'm somewhat curious what the site was, but not as much so as the MSpaint cats.

The fandom seems to have almost vanished save for a few super-serious-music-critics and the slash writers. Everyone else is hiding where I can't find them.

b) the person writing for the fandom I'm active in now and my OTP;
c) the person having put me on their favorites (even if I don't recall this person leaving reviews on my fics or anything)
that causes me to stop and wonder if I'm crazy for thinking/feeling the way I do.
I've seen other awful fic for the fandom/OTP before and I just click back and ignore it. Some people try, some people fail. But this is like one of those times where you get SOOOOOOO SOOOOOO close to awesome and... BELLY FLOP. It makes me mad with how it led me on. It makes me sad with how close it got to awesome only to fail (miserably?).
Anyway, I did end up leaving what I hoped was genuine concrit, and the author was prompt in replying about a falsity and fixing it, but re: commas in her fic(s), the person is "lazy and stubborn and might not get around to it any time soon." That just had me shaking my head.
But at least I don't feel like roasting the author over an open pit anymore. I may not have lambasted her as much as I initially wanted, but I did get the feeling out there. I took a step back, waited until I could say my piece calmly and honestly, and maybe it accomplished something. Who knows? We just may see.

(Anonymous) 2009-01-22 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)For me, I was relating it to the several people who are nice to me, seem to like what I do, I've chatted with and are nice on the IM, leave nice comments.....but then when I go to their page, every. single. thing. about. their. work. FAILS! The pairings are self-with-magic-powers-and-supermodel-body Mary Sues paired with characters who would obviously despise them if they were actually anything like the character.
One EXTREME offender in particular...I've MSTed in my free time some months ago, then felt bad because she was nice to me....but then when I saw the even worse stuff that made her fail even more than I thought possible, I couldn't even pretend to feel bad anymore. (I don't even plan on showing the MST to anyone, I just had to get it out of my system).
Basically, my problem is that I don't like feeling like my work is ignored, so when someone actually notices it, it's the best feeling in the world. I know, I sound desperate, but when I put work in something, I'd rather someone actually notice it's existance, even if it's someone I'd really rather not be associated with....yeah, I know.
