And I have to laugh at the dust this secret is kicking up. Too many Star Trek fans are getting their feathers ruffled, "Saying Star Trek fans aren't like that! Screw you and your little dog too!"
But, come on, all fandoms have their kooks. That's what makes fandom so interesting. I love our Star Trek eccentrics like that lady who went to jury duty a few years back in a ST:TNG Starfleet uniform.
For a brief second, she made life interesting.
And, sigh, I love your icon. Bones is love.

But I mean, Trekkies have a bad reputation for a reason. While it's always the minority that are obnoxious and vocal, they're still there and they're the ones that people notice. Some of them make me want to bang my head against a wall (U GOTZ TEH STARDAETZ WRONG!!1! IMMA LIVIN IN MAH PARENTZ BASSMENT BUT IM STLL SMRTERR DAN U!!1) and then there are some that just make me laugh at how absurd they are (the lady you mentioned, who I've actually never even heard about). And then, of course, are the friendly fans who may or may not be completely sane, but completely endearing nevertheless :)
And here I'm just going to extend the Bones love ♥ I'd say the extent of my love for him is unhealthy, but then I remember it's Doctor friggin McCoy, so it's alright :D

I can see where you are coming from with Star Trek being compared to Twilight. Which is really apples and oranges in scales of comparing. But then, I basically ignore any "at least Twilight is better than" ramblings.
