Probably better to keep in sporadic touch, if you're well enough to do that now and then. That way they know you haven't ditched them. (Sorry, not tactfully put but I'm chronically ill myself and tired and I know what dicks people can be about chronic illness; we might as well not exist for a lot of people.)
