I liked the idea of Cara Dune, of the episode they introed her in, she was the best thing about it. Female soldier from Alderaan (Yes, a character to explore how Alderaanians other the Leia handled losing their planet) who got disillusioned with the New Republic and... well... we never really found out b/c she became a band-aid to solve Din's problems with Gideon. She never (imo) became more than tough girl with a gun and her going back to the New Republic to be a Marshall was completely glossed over story wise. B/C yeah, let's make it easy to get to Mayfield. Sure!

Gina herself needed some acting classes and a PR person and to, err, listen to her employers when they said "stop posting controversial stuff to your social media." Not renewing her contract and then managing to keep it under wraps until the latest storm on social media when it got leaked means Disney's/Lucasfilm's PR wasn't doing their job as well as they usually do. The way it got handled was a mess.

I'd be fine with a recasting. However, as they've got things written right now, I don't think Din is really going to 'need' her help again. I suppose they could tag in Ronda Rousey if necessary.
