I love the choreo rehearsal videos for any song tbh; they're ridiculous amazing when they're fooling around, and ridiculously awe inspiring when they are just going hard.

I don't mind super badass OR super smart characters (but when you someone BOTH you have to work real hard at making them NOT a Mary Sue) My issue is that when they make a badass female character 99% of the time, they have to include "Snarky and cruel". Like being tough for women automatically goes along with being a jerk.

I know why this is the way it is, Joss Whedon's fault mostly. Writing women in an era where it was considered "Cliche" (and generally considered to be a sexist stereotype) to make the female character the kind and compassionate one, so she had to be "Tough" and "Edgy" and "Cold" to as to fight the stereotype. And it's just dragged along since the 80's / 90's because writers are lazy.

Honestly, I just don't like how "Says something cutting with a smirk and then kicking your ass" is somehow a substitute for having a personality in both male and female characters, but specifically it seems to be the ONLY way you can have a super tough and super smart Female Character(tm), but I feel I'm veering away from the point of your secret now.

Agreed. It's not even a - particularly, a female - character being super badass or super smart what bothers me the most, actually, it is the way in which they are always the same brand of super smart and/or super badass. I love well-written female characters but I seldom find those outside of these very specific niches of indie works.

Enjoy what you do OP!! BTS have amazing choreo and their practices are always fun to watch and so engaging! They work so hard.

I recently got into NCT despite feeling like I'd been out of the Kpop fandom for too long (and I was never a good participant; I always ended up liking groups no one else did T_T ). Youtube recc'd their music videos and I've been trying expand my music consumption and the next thing you know I'm learning that Doyoung is a precious bunny.

Or, I guess "fault" implies blame / some wrong doing. Perhaps I would say Tolkien is responsible for the epic fantasy genre as it exists today.

Joss Whedon IS at fault - FAULT - for the state of "Tough female characters" tho.

It sold well and continues to sell well. Why take a risk when you could just make her a cardboard cut out and sell just as well... if not better!
