I've never understood the hate because A. there's quite obviously something between them, and denying that makes you BLIND and B. it's not getting in the way of Jack/Ianto anyway. The J/I relationship is so ambiguous, you can take it at any level you want, be in just sex or something more, so really, everyone wins.

I am annoyed with the MASSIVE DEFENSIVENESS from anyone who like Gwen or Jack/Gwen, though. I know it's not unfounded, but not EVERYONE in the fandom, even some J/I shippers, are going to jump down your throat for liking it.

I'd be a bigger Jack/Gwen shipper if I didn't love Rhys so much. :)

THIS. I'd even hazard a guess that most Jack/Ianto shippers will not jump down your throat. It's just the insane ones overpower everyone else and make the sane ones look bad.

Storytime! Sometimes, when I talk to people about how I meet people from the internet a lot, and they always ask how I'm not worried that I'm going to be raped/killed/etc. I just tell them that 95% of the people on the internet are normal, good people. You just have that 5% that ruin it for everyone.

Fandom is the same way. Most people can deal with different opinions and ships, but you have those few crazies who ruin it for everyone, and give ships (especially popular ships) and fandoms a bad name.

Word to both comments above. It would be nice if everyone could just play in their own part of the sandbox without having to stamp on anyone else's castle.

This couldn't be more true. There's always a few nutters in any group that make the rest look bad (and I'm not a Janto, but I understand this is particularly the case with them).

I'd generally like Gwen more if she hadn't treated Rhys like crap for so long. Rhys rocks.
Also, prolonged exposure to Jack/Ianto shippers - who I used to be part of - has made me love Owen, Tosh and Rhys more than the main characters.

Tosh and Rhys FTW. I'd watch them in a spinoff of their own, screw the others.

Prolonged exposure to Jack/Ianto shippers made me leave the fandom. D: They're so extreme. And one who I was friends with once went off on me because I even so much as liked Gwen. She was like, my third favorite or something. :\

And people wonder how anyone who holds a different opinion to the so-called canon pairing gets so very dug in.

You poor thing. *hugs* No that wasn't me being sarcastic. Look I'm a Jack/Ianto shipper, though I still lean more towards Jack/Ten, but I love Gwen. Yeah she has her moments where I want to smack, but that makes her a great character because, *gasp* she's three dimensional and has flaws.

The annoying thing is the whole show was set up for the characters (all of them, not just Jack) to play musical bedsheets and people keep trying to shoehorn these guys into monogamous OTPs. Even Gwen/Rhys isn't immune. I'm waiting for Rhys to wake up in bed with Ianto.

Ianto/Rhys. Crap now I want to write fic. I hate you so much for even putting this notion in my head. Hell if they get together than Jack can run off with Gwen and everybody wins!

OMG Rhys/Ianto would be epic!

WOOHOO! Look I love Jack/Ianto, but their relationship is based purely on sex. If Rhys was not in the picture, I wouldn't mind seeing Gwen jump on Jack, though I think her character would become lesser for it. But still, I love all the characters.
