Badly placed sarcasm XD

A weeaboo is someone who uses random Japanese phrases. If we go by the OP, someone who's learning Japanese, because s/he is genuinely interested in the country is one, too :/

I think rather that they're comparing opera to anime, so learning japanese/italian for anime/opera.

I don't understand how that's "weaboo" ish at all in any way. I mean, wanting to learn a language, REGARDLESS of the initial reason is always a great goal to have. It'll benefit people in tons of different ways..

Plus, genuinely learning Japanese and yelling DESU DESU KAWAII!!11 ^.^ are two totally different things.

Of course, I took German, French, and Italian when I was getting a degree in voice performance, and I'm now trying to teach myself Japanese after having sung some Toru Takemitsu art songs.. so I'm biased. =(
