I don't really have any issues with Twilight other than IT'S LAME, but like, leave Gaspard out of it, you know? D:

LoL I once got into an argument with someone in a Gaspard community over why he shouldn't play Edward. Other than the fact that... he would never audition for that role & looks unlike the character in just about every way, he's FRENCH. They actually said to me 'well, he's from a long time ago, I imagine him with a tiny French accent'. Because obv Chicago in the 1910's was actually a French community.

HEY, wow, that totally just broke my brain. o_O;;

I actually don't think ~~Cedric Diggory~~ Robert Pattinson is that awesome of an Edward, but like...
Seriously, no, Gaspard is French and Edward is American. Maybe if he was from, like, New Orleans? Then he could sound French. But...

I like Rob Pattinson a lot, and I think his attitude toward the Edward character is appropriate, lmao. But yeah, there's no such thing as a 'perfect' Edward imho because women's taste in men varies so much and vampire sexy magic doesn't translate well on film, lol. But I think Rob is much closer to classical handsomeness than Gaspard, who's much more of a niche taste, I think.

They could have done much worse with the casting. I liked him as Edward better than I liked their choice for Bella. I don't really even know why I don't like her - I just really don't. (I think the best cast parts were Charlie and Carlisle, trufax.)

You're definitely right about the looks, though - even if looking at Rob often makes me think "HEY CEDRIC DIGGORY" - he's got more of a "classic" look to him. I think Gaspard is gorgeous, but he's not good looking in the same way.
