Judy in Seven Little Australians. She's like, twelve? And she throws herself over her toddler sister to protect her from a falling tree, breaks her back, and because this is 1905, she dies. The thing that makes it exceptionally painful is that the family is only there at all because Judy had recently recovered from a really serious cold, so they went to try and relax and 'take the country air'.
