And then either pirate or buy the show you want. If you have them, you should find a software that can break the protection and convert the video into something you can cut.

I tried to find software but it was so convoluted and even following the instructions didn't work. :(

Oh sorry, I meant I tried software to make a useable file from a dvd. Thanks for the link, that looks very helpful!
