"I mean, not only has it been talked to death, but it's such an exhausting, unpleasant conversation to have over and over and over again."

I am in complete agreement with you... which is why I choose not to participate in such conversations. As soon as I see a JKR/transphobic secret, I move on. I do not read the thread. I do not comment on the thread. I'm not exhausted because I realize that joining the discussion is my choice and nobody can force me to read the exhausting, unpleasant conversation or contribute in any way to the exhausting, unpleasant conversation.

So I figure if someone finds any topic exhausting and unpleasant, but they read it and join in anyway... that's on them. Not the OP. Not the other people who wish to keep discussing it. Make better choices, and don't chastise people because you keep making poor ones.

I mean, yeah, no kidding. I also choose not to participate in the discussions. However, if someone's feelings about a particular topic are, "JFC the fact that we're still discussing this is exhausting to me," I think that's a completely valid opinion to express. In fact, they will probably make a lot of other exhausted people feel spoken for, so honestly, good on them.

I think it's a valid opinion. I'm not convinced expressing it in a comment thread that's specifically for people who aren't exhausted by the discussion and who apparently still wish to participate is the best place for it. If I strongly dislike a music artist and I'm tired of hearing their songs, I don't try to horn in on discussions where fans are talking about how much they enjoy the songs just so I can feel "seen" or whatever. Because it's not about me.
