Nearly everyone I know who did/is doing their doctorates has either
A) do not recommend
B) pulling their hair out
C) enjoying certain aspects of it(surely?!)

Same with the ones I know! Also “having to take a job in a place you probably wouldn’t choose to live under any other circumstances” features a lot. I think they do still enjoy their subject but the bullshit around it all makes it a tough relationship at times.
