Oh, the gripes I have over what Icon makers say about their work. I do what you do, and more that would probably get me lynched if I admitted it non-anonymously:
-I don't credit if the icon is just a crop of a screenshot
-If "Textless icons are not bases" I make a point to download and modify all of them.
-I can never be assed to comment.
-If you link me to a friends-locked entry behind a fake cut, I steal all your icons, and credit them to myself.

I can't see why icon makers get so butthurt over 100x100 boxes of pixels. I don't credit any of my icons.

Don't get me wrong, I would credit if I ever used the highly stylized icons that the creators spend over 1000000000 hours in photoshop choosing just the right coloring, effects, text font, etc. However, I don't. Also, if it's based on fanart or manga colorings, I do credit. But most of the ones I use don't warrant any credit at all.

I do that too, with the "not bases" icons and commenting. I mean, jeeze people, why post them if we can't take them? THEY'RE JUST 100X100 CROPPED PICTURES.

Do people actually put "No taking these icons, they're for show"? It's like opening up a fine steak restaurant, displaying fine steak in the window, then giving a mcdonalds hamburger to whoever comes in.

See, the only reason I like to credit and would prefer when people do that is, from an icon-loving standpoint, if I see icons I really like I want to be able to find out who made them and look for other icons they may have made that spark my interest. And when it comes to commenting, I feel awkward when I put out anything, fic or art or icons, and it gets no comments, not even a simple "Nice!" or something. It won't stop me from writing or making icons because I love to do it (though lol, can't draw, and my icons mostly are minorly-adjusted crops because I'm Photoshop-retarded), but it makes me less likely to post them when I do, because I think that people really don't care and I'm just spamming.
