Eh...sorry I got all condescending on you, 155 OP; I have not been having the best of days today. It's just that making troll secrets for the wank when you know better just kinda creeps me out. Sorry. :/

No prob. Dunno why it creeps you out- seems like a harmless bit of fun if you ask me. Everyone has their dark side. Mine just happens to be upsetting srs business fans on F!S from time to time, lol.

I would hardly call deliberately making people you've never met before angry over anything just for one's own amusement "harmless fun," and that there are better ways to channel one's so-called "dark side," but that's just me. :-)

175. Sort of. Kaworu's name (カヲル) is spelled with a "wo" character instead of an "o," and even though most translations would render it as Kaoru anyway, Gainax has specifically spelled it as Kaworu in most cases (in EoE, for instance, it's written on his plugs). Or so I understand.

Thanks for the info. But can Ouran's Kaoru's name be rendered the same way? Or it can't because it's written in kanji? Sorry, I'm not familiar with Ouran at all.

It might (I'm not exactly familiar with Japanese, so I apologize for any bastardization) but I'm 95% it wouldn't be. Plus Kaworu's name is actually spelled in katakana, whereas Kaoru's name is like kanji or hiragana (i dunno lol). Kaoru's name in Japanese is 馨.

I actually don't know a lick about Ouran either. I'm just looking at his name on wiki. *shrug*

I'm still not entirely convinced, just because を and ヲ can be written as "o" or "wo" interchangeably (unless there are rules I don't know about -- I've just started learning Japanese this year, lol), but this makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot!

I guess lol. I don't know a lick of Japanese other than what I learned on my own from fanart searching (re: "I think this character means something!"), but as Gainax and co. seems to prefer the Kaworu spelling, and are actually sort of consistent about it unlike, say, the various romanizations of Gendo, Asuka's middle and last names, Kaji's given name etc. You're welcome, btw. Although I feel like such a geek for typing all this and I'm not even the OP. :(

Yeah, Gainax was pretty consistent with the spelling, though to be honest spelling it as "Kaoru" anyway doesn't bother me since that's just another way of romanizing it. I wonder if Ouran's Kaoru is like that too. Thanks again, not-OP! Don't worry, you certainly helped. :-)
