Apparently made a joke tweet with both the words “Wincest” and “Destiel” and was then piled on by people who said they were triggered by the word wincest?? At least that’s what I could figure out from my timeline.

Like yes, if we’re going to be talking about actual incest, let’s put a warning on it. But just mentioning the NAME of a fictional ship is too much for some people I guess.

The only example I can think of that I've seen like this is Enjolras in the current Les Mis fandom. With him, I would guess there's something about wanting to keep him recognizable but also not implying the paragon of justice is a white dude.

I was so bored, I searched "fandom wank" this afternoon and all the top results were about this, so it kept me feed for a while. XD Oh Supernatural fandom.

Songfics definitely bug me and I'm not even really sure why. I don't mind the idea of a fic inspired by song lyrics. It's more that when the lyrics are actually inserted mid-story, they break up the flow.

I have noticed an interesting habit in 2 or 3 of my fandoms recently, which is that white fans are drawing fan art of canonically white, blond characters still with blond hair, but with very dark skin. Specifically, these characters, much more often than ones with other hair colors. I know it's white fans doing this because of selfies they've posted and personal info they've put in their tumblr bios. I don't know if this was an established thing already and I only just started noticing it, but it seems like there must be some kind of reason for the trend and I'm curious what it is.
