[CB Strike by Robert Galbraith]

I can only assume this is a secret because of Rowling's views and not because of the show itself because you're supposed to ship them and it's not supposed to be like Harry Potter.

OP

Yes, that's it. I can't fangirl the series/ship because everybody I know hates Rowling right not (and I'm not a fan of *her* or her transphobic point of view either, but I do really like the show. I haven't read the books and don't plan to.)

I really like her Robert Galbraith books...but for obvious reasons I would never admit this un-anon.

They are really good though...

I remember liking the first two, but after just pages and pages and pages and PAGES of dumbshit relationship choices (Robin's husband, Shrike's ex) getting in the way of the detective mystery stuff I just gave up. The third one was a slog, and I haven't attempted to read the latest one, which I hear is where she really let her transphobe flag fly.

Why aren't we supposed to ship them and what's Harry Potter got to do with it?

Same author.

Honestly the show looks good but it's a hard no from me

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Dowbload it?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Or download it even.

Sorry, fat fingers.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, even if I knew it wasn't putting money in her pocket, it'd still be in my head the whole time I was watching

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not THAT good, anon, you're fine.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know there was a show and had only heard of the books thanks to that Lindsay Ellis video. Apparently the female character doesn't wash her hair enough?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
I think I missed that Lindsay Ellis video. What’s with the character’s hair washing habits?

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
It's an extremely minor excerpt about the description of the character within a video about Pop Culture Transphobia.

If the show is anything like the books then it's a hard pass from me. My utter disdain for the author aside, i just couldn't stand reading the books. My brain refused to click with them.

OP

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I just watched the series. I think I mostly enjoy it because of the actors' chemistry, not the source material/writing in particular.

(Anonymous) 2021-03-25 11:14 am (UTC)(link)
Watch what you like, anon, it doesn't amtter in the grand scheme of things. For what it's worth (I've only seen one or two epiosdes and read the first two books), the show is better than the books for me - they have good chemistry and I don't have to endure the main character's POV (which annoyed me).
