Or maybe that's bs, and actors don't need any more "mental resilience" to do their job than anyone else. To be an actor, you need to be able to act. That's it. Which Elliot excels at, even when the role hurt him. He's allowed to not want to play any more parts that damage him from then on.

It certainly doesn't make him "spoiled". But you definitely tipped your hand as a "kids these days" asshole, so great job making a fool of yourself.
