While I agree that they should see a therapist to help them get through this, how can you make this assumption? Maybe they aren't and maybe they are.

Well their secret rather gives the impression that they see their asexuality caused by the abuse, maybe I'm just misinterpreting it.

I'm not dismissing the abuse, no, and your interpretation's fine. We just don't know everything about the OP's sexuality, that's all. If my comment sound like I was being pissy, sorry. :(

It doesn't. I just don't think sexual orientation can be caused by outside forces. If you're asexual then you're born asexual. If your asexuality was caused by abuse then it's not actual asexuality and it's not healthy to hide behind that label. I speak from experience here.

Yes that's possible. It just wasn't the impression I got from the secret. Unfortunately at this point only the OP can clear that up. If she was asexual before the abuse then I retract the first part of my comment.

True, but what they're feeling now isn't asexuality because they're afraid of sex, right? That's not a-sexuality, it's trauma, I would think.
