Wow, I vaguely remember seeing a review of (sigh) Dragon Balls long ago (and that title sounds right). As for the tourney idea, I can hear the awkward expository dialogue playing over frozen, just slightly off-model characters standing in a generically sinister background now.

Oh wait, was it “Sailor and the 7 Ballz”? There was also “StarBallz” (which throws everyone into Star Wars). And thanks to RightStuf anime, you can still get both *and* the sequel to “7 Ballz”.

I remember seeing this for sale at my local comic shop. Was tempted to get it as a lark, but my ex-wife would've thrown a hissy fit.
