(Anonymous) 2021-03-30 05:09 am (UTC)(link)Then I heard about the mess that was Season 2 and production and them airing stuff out of order and trying to be monster of the week and yet still have "character" arcs but not having arcs b/c everything resetting all the time. So, I backed away b/c Firefly vibes, and yet, keep my eye on it. (It had potential.)
And things have only gotten worse with the production and, let's be honest, the creator, since. (the writer's room has ONE woman in it and Chat/Adrien is basically an author insert for main male creator at this point.)
My assumption is right now that if you are the shows demo/target market. You'll find it enjoyable. There is a lot of good stuff in there to work with worldbuilding wise, even as some of it is incredibly culturally... bad. However, if you enjoy analyzing things or meta or an actual story structure where characters not Ladybug actually face consequences, and want the show to actually be about oh, Ladybug and not... Chat. You're in for a rougher road. (Like, "it's all Ladybug's fault" is giving me Descendants "It's all Mal's fault" vibes all over again and I've been through that once, no thank you. I hate it.)
Fandom is super split right now. I guess, the best advice I can give is like take it an episode at a time? With 3 Seasons out, you can at least watch them in order!
