I think most people project onto their fave characters a bit. But I feel like there's a difference between just a little bit of projection that coexists with decent characterization and makes for iddy goodness, and the kind of blatant projection where one of the characters becomes a hollowed out Mary Sue and the other is so very obviously just there for thirst purposes.

Not that people who do this are doing something wrong. It's fine that that's what they like. But oh my god none of their hits or kudos or reblogs or likes will ever be from me because I hate it. I hate it so much.
