Well, they put those ugly watermarks so people will quit stealing their art and passing it off as their own. I don’t think artists want to ruin their own art with huge watermarks, but it’s a necessary evil.

Yeah, this. I used to work for a gaming news site and we had to put the watermarks over parts of the actual screenshots and official artwork rather than just an easily cropped corner because other gaming news sites kept stealing them.

This was particularly amusing when they stole some that we doctored for an April Fool's Day joke, removed the watermark, and claimed that Square-Enix sent them the same (non-existent) release packet. XD
