109. & 129. You know, I really think fandomsecrets is the only place where people are still wanking about this. Aside from the odd snarky comment, everyone else I've seen calmed down after the first week.

144. What's so bad about it? I've never read it, but I've never read anything about it that made it seem like it trivialised the Holocaust. I mean, the kids die in the gas chambers, that seems pretty hardcore for a children's book.

Added to that, very few people were still banging on about WOE DAVID TENNANT IS LEAVING by the time Matt Smith was announced. Disliking the choice =/= unable to accept change.

Really. 109 even says that all of this hate happened the week Matt was announced. It's been WEEKS, it's time to move on. I don't hear any more noise being made about it. Well, outside of f_s, that is.

I think at least part of it is that F_S may or may not be a week or so behind as it is, and maybe there are holdouts, but otherwise it seems to be entirely oldmeme. And it was never really all that bad to begin with. Even the grumpiest of wankers were mostly just, "Hmph. Not impressed." There were no full-on crazy meta essays about how Matt Smith was evil, or anything. (Is it sad that my bar for wank is how many angry essays/crackpot theories are posted to doctorwho about it?)

True. That could be it, but I know that my secrets are usually posted within a week, so it seems the OP is suffering from jet lag or something. In any case, I just hope that the Matt Smith "don't hate b/c he ain't Tennant!" secrets stop. It makes it seem like we're all damning the poor guy when that really isn't the case.

I'd say that's a pretty good basis for a wank-o-meter. Either that or how many times something DW related winds up on FandomWank (my bar for wank *ashamed*).

Wank in my own fandoms makes me twitch badly and I want to leap in and start defending the fandom as a whole. "Look, they're really very nice people!" "Lots of people like both Martha and Rose!" "It's not as silly as it sounds, actually it's a very important philosophical point!"

Maybe the OP just got done reading all the threads and decided to make a secret while the topic was still hot? We had an "I miss Nine!" secret the other day, so being up-to-date isn't necessarily a concern.

Yeah, that's probably what happened. I didn't read the ONTD reaction thread until a few days after the fact. It just seems like this secret is repeated every few days, and I wish I knew where the hate was coming from so I could go open up a can of whoop-ass... kidding, of course. My can opener broke last week.

THIS SO MUCH (oh hai, 123). The wank was far smaller than anticipated, and blew over within a couple days, and I don't of anyone who wasn't past it weeks ago.

Exactly. The only people I've seen still talking about it are, funnily enough, the people who are complaining about how mean everyone is about Matt Smith. Everyone's too busy discussing Michelle Ryan nowadays to give a damn.

Well, f!s is always a week behind, but still. The fandom got over him in two days. As you say, it's now about Ryan, and the interminable classic vs new wank that crossbred with awards wank, in addition to the usual inane dribble that's posted to doctorwho.

Ah, you've been hanging out at the anonmeme, too? I think at the meme people spent most of the night it was announced discussing it, and most of the day after, too, and by the morning after that everyone was sick of the sight of his name.
