i watched the movie and the reason why i say it was worse because it was from the child's point of view. like we all know how horrible the holocaust was, but these two boys were so innocent and they didn't even realize what was going on. especially the german boy, he was lead to believe that the camp was a good place. and the end of it killed me because there was so much innocence between the boys, they didn't even know what was happening when they were being lead to their death, they thought they were going inside the chamber to get out of the rain and take a shower. so, to me, it just made it worse because i imagine that tons of children during the holocaust must have felt so confused by the whole thing, they didn't know what was going on. it just killed me especially since a lot of holocaust movies don't really focus on the children, they focus on the whole thing, but seeing it from a child's point of view... i don't know, the movie just killed me. :/

but yeah, of course a book can't make it worse then what actually happened, i just don't understand how the op can say that this book/movie trivializes the holocaust because it really doesn't.
