Are you me, the poster of WHOLLY AWESUM SECRITZ!?! Hee!! Fuu was the first character that I admired hardcore. Out of the three, she was absolutely the most amazing (smart, witty, calculating, adorable, rational, kind). At first, I didn't care much for Umi or Hikaru, but now I like them both, Umi more than Hikaru (b/c Hikaru was always stealing the limelight of the show... she just always felt like a dull, shallow character compared to the other two).
And as for Fuu/Ferio, I agree with you totally. There are some OTPs I have where I like the read the smex, however, with those two it always felt wrong. And whenever a story started inferencing it, I'd start to feel wigged out. Theirs is an innocent love for me, and I don't feel comfortable with the intimate details. I like to skip from the courting to the married with children years, yes.
I preferred Ferio's regalness mixed with Fuu's effeminate charm (and sneakiness) in the manga. I didn't mind the anime portrayals at all - I remember squealing several times in fact - but there have been several fanfics out there that have carried on portraying Ferio as the smooth-talking playboy and Fuu gushing over it (and then it evolving into something more @.@;;;). I always felt that those were shallow portrayals and could never get through the stories. Besides, they both grew and by the second season they were more similar to what they were in the manga. So, in essence, the stories were only focusing on one part of the whole.
Whatever, this has become a long rant I blew out of proportion.
I just wanted to say that I agree with you on the Fuu and Fuu/Ferio aspects! Amazing secret! Made my day!

(Anonymous) 2009-01-27 12:11 pm (UTC)(link)I've read a lot of amazing fics that are before the marriage, and a lot after :D Their kids are inevitably cute. Ferio was a lot more mysterious in the manga, and his transformation to prince a lot more believable. I also preferred the use of the ring. It made for a wonderful detail of her left hand ring finger at the end of the manga, giving many Fuu/Ferio fans hope.
There is one artwork I have to say, that will always make me happy: http://mimiluvbug.deviantart.com/art/By-Your-Side-63124135 . It's not for the OMG THEYS HAVING SEX, but for the emotion. It's like the description says. XD
