I am also in a fandom of two (occasionally a third or fourth pops up) and...

1: I wonder about this too.

Oh this would unnerve me to be a part of a fandom that's small enough to make particular participants noticeable. I like my invisibility too much or just being 'bad' enough at my fanworks to get bare minimum recognition.

Yeah, I can sympathize with your frustration. I've been there. Especially the moments where a character doesn't get along with your favorite character, or even likes them yet still - gasp - calls them out sometimes when they act like an ass, or do something wrong.

I know exactly what you're talking about and the vitriol is insane. I've seen people go hard for their faves before, but the degree of black and white thinking in this fandom is downright bizarre.

Joke's on them, though, because it just makes me like the "problematic" characters more.

I’ve definitely had that feeling before. Sometimes I’m on the other end of the spectrum where I get a little too invested/protective of a character and then I have to go outside and get air. It’s always good to clear one’s head before getting too heated.
