Shorter was the best. I’d read the manga years before the anime came out, so I knew it was coming, but I still cried like a bitch when Shorter died. I kept watching the anime though because I had a stupid hope that they’d change the ending because I always thought that was such a stupid way for Ash to go out, but of course they didn’t.

Same. i mean, they had the chance RIGHT THERE to fix the second biggest mistake of the manga (killing Ash) and they didn't. (I hated when Shorter died in the Manga, and the second I saw that he died in the anime, I knew Ash wasn't going to make it since, well, that was the first domino)

Agreed. So hard. Shorter dying sucked but in the narrative of the story, I guess I followed, but Ash was so weird. I wouldn't have been surprised (disappointed but not surprised) if he had died in the course of the story but to have it tacked on like that was so dumb.

For real. I can't remember if I ever got that far into the manga and how I felt about it after if that was the case, but it was super noticable with the anime. After Shorter died, so did almost all entertainment I got out of it.
