Then maybe those kids should, like, have parents who make use of blocking tools? Or who teach them internet safety? For example, while I personally think Redo of Healer is trash "what if a child downloads this" is not high on my list of reasons why, because the show is very clearly not for kids and if a kid randomly downloads it I'm not seeing how that is the fault of the show and not of parental figures allowing unfettered internet access. Adults who are not parents should not be tasked with the duty of making sure the internet is 100% squeaky clean safe because other people don't want to monitor their children.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao, no. They shouldn't. Stalking kids, that's the plan?

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
DA Ah yes, basic internet safety is stalking now.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
It's called parenting. Your parents should have tried it.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I sent on accident. Anyway, yes, I agree that educating children is important but no parent can monitor what their children are doing 100% of the time - not online, nor offline. It's always been like this.
I sincerely hate when adults can't see that... maybe they shouldn't share their fetishes on twitter, maybe they should find adult-only places for that.
Signed: an adult who was a kid on the internet twenty-something years ago.

Maybe we don't have to go around worrying about delicate sensibilities of strangers, whether they be yours or some random kids.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah let me know who you ARE off anon so I can disregard your sensibility free of guilt

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Finding adult-only spaces is exactly what we have been doing. We've been making our own since fandom began. And now instead of staying out of them like they used to (or lying about their age, which they knew was on them if they got caught), kids barge into the spaces marked "For Adults Only" and tell us to shut them down and stop liking that gross shit. It's wild.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao tell me one such space where kids complain.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
Every time someone posts a privatter link to artwork clearly labelled 18+ and those idiots click on it, look at it and then complain that it's 18+ content they don't like.
Every comment section on adult doujinsji sites it full of this.
Comments sections on fic rated appropriately.
The list goes on.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
We're clearly browsing different websites so, idk. I never faced any of this to an unbearable extent anywhere (maybe "ew this was rapey" or whatever? But I, an adult share those too. No one is forced to read comments.)

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
>It's always been like this
Lol so why is it a problem now? Why coddle those 2020s kids? Are they dumber or more sensitive or whatever than kids five, ten, fifteen years ago? Did your wonderful delusions of 2D paedophilia pop into existence now? No, bro. Kids aren't stupid. The smart ones consume whatever they want to consume even if it's forbidden and smartly shut up about it (you know, like we used to do) and the ones who got coddled by their parents to the point of suffocation complain adults don't write things catered to them. ADULTS are the ones to blame for underage kids barging into spaces where they shouldn't officially be and demand refunds for...I don't know. Not everything being 8+ Disney I guess. You guys have raised true psychopaths who can't tell the difference between fiction and real life and go as far as driving people to suicide.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
= We've always had kids getting fucked up by ill intentioned over-18 people (not to call creeps "adults") and I'd love for that to... Stop! Society gets better? That sounds good

What else can I say? I didn't raise any psychos and have no idea wtf you're talking about.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Bro the number of fucked up people is due to real life shit, not because they read Snape/Harry Potter smut on the internet. Please go be a freedom fighter in real life, where it actually matters, don't go full muh chillun on internet fanfiction sites, when kids actually get trafficked because of dating sites. Wake up.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not saying they should be mentally scarred because they read whatever, I'm saying certain extreme kinds of grooming and whatever in misplaced fiction only serve to spread dumb ideas. Two "wrongs" do not a "right" make.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 11:09 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fucked up not because of fictional content, but because of the people in my life. Fuck off.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
So you assume no one (who may or may not have victimized you or anyone) is influenced by fictional content ever just because you personally are not?

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 08:06 am (UTC)(link)
You can't controle it 100% (although you can get close), so you need to EDUCATE your kid on what to do when they come across content or people that make them uncomfortable.
But that would mean you would actually put in some effort in raising your kid, instead of relying on internet strangers to do it for you. What an awful idea!

Also, because you were young on the internet 20 years ago, you could use your personal experiences to help your kid navigate. But God forbid you'd have to do some actual parenting, of course.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-10 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT I don't have kids but that doesn't mean I don't care for any children's well being.
Maybe it is just that we're in different spaces and had vastly different experiences. In mine, I've never seen any kids do anything that could harm anyone. Just being vocal about not liking adult/teen or adult/child consent isn't harmful (and I as an adult don't like it either).
