Just because he's a silent protagonist doesn't mean he has no personality. A lot of the things Souji does or the dialogue options you can pick give him a lot of character.

Minato, on the other hand, was completely flat. ~~Although I do ship him. :(~~

Minato is...Jesusy. I always read him as the kind of guy who's a better listener than a talker, and I think he has a tendency to just sit back and be for people exactly what they really need him to be, which is how I mentally justify all those social links of girls throwing themselves at him and him being like "k, it's cool :|b".

A lot of Megaten silent protagonists tend to have pretty well defined personalities despite their not speaking much. It's one of the things I love about the series.

I guess that's one way to put it... Can't say I ever really thought of it that way, at least. But the Jesusy thing goes along with the fact that he fills the messianic archetype.

Lordy I want to play the older Persona games. :(

P3 (and P4) were a bit of a departure from P2 (Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment). Instead of social links, you would contract with demons in battle, and instead of going to school, you spread rumors. Still, P2 is well worth playing, and now that there's a fansub of Innocent Sin you can get the full story as Atlus intended.
