108. I only vaguely remember it, but I remember that the fandom was scary. I did like it though--just didn't get to watch that much.

110. ZOMIGOSH YOU ARE SO RIGHT! I mean, about Adventures in Wonderland and all. I was fairly sure the Hatter was gay (at a time before I even knew what that meant), but dangit, I still wanted to be his bestest best friend.
I'm willing to give the movie a chance. Bri-Hatter will always be my fav, though.
And props, I thought no one but me and one lone friend remembered that kickin' show.

134. The weird thing is, I know what you mean. I mean, yeah, Harley's completely bonkers (although I think more recently in the comic's she's sane but zany, so there's that). But the reason the Joker got to her was more than just playing to her sympathy--it was because he seemed to be offering a wacky life unlike the norm.

136. I agree. Saw, maybe, I could understand. I've never seen it, though. But Hostel? No. The fact that movies like that are made speaks to something sick in our society that should be eradicated* rather than fed. And yeah, there was probably torture porn for decades, etc. But, y'know, now it's like, right in theatres and all, blantant and accepted.

*(yes, I know, strong wording. Whatever. People have different tastes, but torture porn goes beyond rape-fantasties...it's just messed up).

145. Lol. I did that. But I'm pretty darn proud of my ringtone. Doesn't hurt that I've got a spinny-dancey-flashy dalek charm too.

157. Not a huge fan of the show, but I always did hate curly-hair/mean girl thing. Though that last picture makes me want to ship that one so so much. (Yeah, I can't even remember the names though. I never really cared for 'em).

179. Mmm. My dream cast involves time travel, because it would be James Marsters as Crowley and Anthony Head as Aziraphale, but from about ten years ago. I's still like AH as Aziraphale. Admittedly, Simm would be pretty awesome, thought his flustered doesn't quite seem AZ's flustered. Not really sold on DT as Crowley.

I suppose, since it's seeming a bit wanky, the "something sick" really applies more to Hostel than to Saw. As far as I understand, Saw has a plot and a point. Rather like a more detailed version of Se7en--a sick kind of movie, but not a bad one. I don't think I'll be able to watch Se7en again, and I doubt I'll ever bring myself to watch Saw--just not my thing--but that doesn't make them torture porn.

Hostel, though...I can't see it as anything but.

Maybe it's just me, but I was under the impression that horror was, you know... supposed to be horrifying! And that making a movie about shit that really happens and not shying away from the details... was horrifying! yeah, the things we learn every day, I know.

Yes, horror is supposed to be horrifying. Good for you. The fact that Psycho or Se7en isn't horrifying enough for some people and that they need something as in-depth as close-ups of melting people's eyes off with flame-throwers seems to say that there is a problem. You watch horror for a catharsis. Not my thing, but I get it. And people enjoy the catharisis. But enjoying a long, drawn-out, detail-filled torture scene is just sick.

At any rate, I don't even really see that torture-porn, gore-filled stuff as horror. Horror shouldn't rely on the gore to sell it. It's just something else and other entirely.
