(Anonymous) 2021-04-21 11:32 am (UTC)(link)yeah, that was not best phrased (wrote it before coffee) - what I really meant is that in my ideal version of literature, authors would tone their descriptions down a bit, because many a times it's just too over the top to be in any way believable, especially when it's not just the main character's point of view, but every damn person in the universe, falling all over themselves in the face of a ~beautiful person~ (and makes me roll my eyes). And, on the other hand, book readers should be more understanding of the fact that real-life humans will often fail short of the over-the top perfection as described in the novels.

(Anonymous) 2021-04-21 12:14 pm (UTC)(link)And same goes for casting decisions - like, some people will find a certain actor super attractive and perfect for a role while others won't, and if it's the latter for a character they really like it can suck (I've been there) but some act like them not approving of a casting choice is a universal truth and if they don't like it, it's a personal offense or something.
