People on imgur yesterday saying you must be unforgivable scum if you don't tattle on a cheating person to the cheating person's S.O., regardless of the situation.

Guess I did my unforgivably scummy self a favor by reading the comments and not replying at all.

I saw that post, and I don't think you're unforgivable scum for (presumably) not wanting to get involved, but I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to tell them?

If I found I was being cheated on, and the other person's SO was unaware, I'd feel like I had an obligation to make sure they knew, to be informed.

a) STIs. Omg, the STIs. If they're cheating with my SO, they may or may not be cheating with someone else, thus bringing things home that the oblivious SO has no knowledge of.
b) In this circumstance, the oblivious SO had three kids, like... if my SO is spending all of our money on someone else, fuck them.

This. Regardless of your own personal feelings about cheating, it's literally a health issue that could hurt an innocent person.
