161. I think it's a general rule that when making a series of any kind, the whole cast can't be huge and fat.

Why not? It's not like most series strive for realism above all else. And why would it have to be about promoting good self-image if there was a series about fat folks? Can't a creator just want to make something about chubs?

I don't think the artist was trying to imply all Americans and British are fat. Don't those characters eat a lot of scones and hamburgers in the manga yet gain no weight? I think that's probably what the artist was getting at.

Sorry if I came off in that way... I don't mean that a series can't just be about fat people. Just that I don't think many people would enjoy it, and that's why there aren't many shows like that out there. I wouldn't have a problem with it though.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with a series about fat people. I'm gonna admit I was interested in Ugly Betty because the main was overweight and wasn't the girl friend who is a smart aleck. I lost interest when I started to see America Ferrera lost a ton of weight. Shallow I know.

It was the reason why I watched the Parker because the mains were overweight and wasn't the comedy relief.

No, manda (the artist) made that art to reflect the obesity rates in those countries which America is #1 and UK is #3 (Mexico is #2, but there's no Mexico in Hetalia yet).

I tried to get into Ugly Betty but I thought the writing was a bit crap. Honestly, weight doesn't matter that much to me one way or the other.

I think a fandom can thrive no matter what the characters look like providing the series is well done. Some chubby heroes might even make some fandoms better by shaving off some of the twatty fangirls, haha.

Anyway, thank you for pointing out the artist's intent. :)
