102-Wow. Maybe you mean it sounds more like something other than rap? "Real music" is pretty loaded. Probably a lot of the real music you listen to would not sound like "real music" to many. And why would you care what race the singer was, if you could even tell?

108-Seriously, sometimes the only reason somebody gets into something late is because they didn't get around to hearing about it or watching/reading it until then. That doesn't mean their reaction is automatically less intelligent!

125-Angry at what, exactly?

134-It's funny how reasonable this secret sounds to me.

138-Oh god, I'm glad you came around. I hate that shit!

148-But if you interacted with the person before you knew they weren't seriously into music, obviously you can interact with them, can't you?

158-You're honestly suggesting that preferring genfic represents some sort of maturation? It doesn't.

I have actually seen people suggest that the progression goes: Mary Sue-Het-Slash, with slash being the highest echelon of fandom.

Good lord. That's just as bad.

I'm sure plenty of people do start out het--but that doesn't mean they've moved up a step if the start liking slash! And plenty of others start out gen, then go slash, then het.

Shifts in genre preference should not be seen as progress. Rather, it is shifts in quality of what we read and write as fans that mark our maturity. At least that is what I believe.

I started out not writing (too lazy) but imagining Mary Sues, then just moved to liking gen or mildly supporting canon pairings, and now I'm becoming slightly more shipper-ish. I don't think that has much to do with maturity (except obviously outgrowing the Sues inside my head).

...I suggest "fan evolution" is different for different people? Could that be?

Mary Sue- Het- Slash then Ship a little bit of everything.

The assumption that shipping m/m (and I assume that's what you mean, because nobody ever means f/f) is a sign of a fan's maturation and evolution is absolutely ridiculous.

Heh- Did you read ?
when I mean "ship a little bit of everything" I mean obviously liking gen, het, m/m and g/g.

Yes, I read.

Or by "Mary Sue - Het - Slash then Ship a little bit of everything" did you mean something other than a progression of steps which puts slash as the third step, higher up the chain (and therefore more mature) than het and Sue!fic?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean (I need to improve my english)

Also sorry for the forthcoming english mistakes I could make.

What I wrote isn't a progression, but rather a path that probably all the fangirls are going/have gone/will go through. (It applied to me, my friends, and most people on my flist)

When you're young (~10-11) you start to read manga and watch anime, and since you're just a preteen, you tend to write Mary Sue fic or daydream about an OC interacting with the characters of a manga you like for escaping the routine.
Then, you grow, it's puberty, you start to like het, especially the canon ones.
You grow and ou reach an age you start to like yaoi/slash. (~around 14)
You slash everything, as long as it involves two boys.

Lots of fangirls stopped at this step.

Some of them realized slash over and over is tiring or whatever others reasons, and start to like back het, yuri, and keep to like some yaoi pairings, or even quit the world of fandoms etc etc.

As for myself, I reached a point, each of my favourites pairings are based about the interaction (as many het pairings as yaoi pairings, but not so many yuri pairings (maybe 3-4) because I haven't find yuri pairings I would like yet.

Of course, the ages I gave aren't set (it can begin later)

I think I may be not wrong, since I experienced it and I'm watching how others peoples of various ages are experienced it (My little sister (and her cousin) is on step 1, she is 12 and is writing Mary-Sues fics about Kingdom Hearts, but now she's starting to like almost-canon pairing (SoulxMaka from Soul Eater), but when I tried to talk her about yaoi pairings, she just went "Ew- Sorry, I don't find it interesting")

Hope it's clear. It's q question of age. But of course, I think the late one goes into fandom, the most likely the first two steps are skipped.

But it's just a theory.

I hope not, because then I am very very old.

You would think. But no. Once that's out there, I can't interact with them anymore. It becomes an awkward mess.
