There is more to the show than Arthur/Merlin - ALL the pairings are incredibly cute/funny/hot/snarky and equally valid. It's what makes the show so much fun. And what's sad is that the fandom is starting to BORE me because of the saturation of A/M-ness. Dudes - broaden your horizons here.
Plus I'm kind of sick of the way certain hardcore A/M slashers bitch every time Merlin or Arthur get a scene with someone other than each other to talk about someone other than each other. Can we not just enjoy the general off-screen orgy that is the heart of this cracktastic show?

Er, in which case I would point out that they really would have had olive oil in those days, since the royal blacksmiths used it as part of the final quench. It's properties as a lubricant were less documented, but still.

LMAO exactly. I watch every episode with the biggest grin, because how could you not see all the UST? Especially poor Gwen, who hasn't met a character (apart from Uther) who doesn't make her all flustered and warm. I love it.
As for the slashers (some of them), I tend to agree. I remember after 1x10 and 1x13 some were all "ZOMG stop forcing Arthur/Gwen EW", which made me eyeroll, because really -- if the writers are forcing one pairing, then they're forcing them all. There is literally just as much subtext for all the other pairings.
