Why? It's really none of your business why someone likes something, and judging a wide swath of people on something you only think is the root cause is even ruder.

Whether I like Hetalia because I like history, like the humor, or like the cute guys, it doesn't really matter if it expands my horizons.

Why is it disgusting? Because I think women should think with their minds instead of with their hormones? (Actually, I expect the same out of men as well. Face it, you know you'd be disgusted if a man was only into history because of a comic filled with hot, scandily clad women.)

Okay, that does it. I wasn't going to say anything, because I'm not into Hetalia, but this is just too much.

What you said just now? That is offensive. There is nothing wrong with a girl liking a series because it has cute boys in it. It's her FREEDOM to enjoy whatever she wants. And furthermore, what one person likes is not a reflection back onto an entire group of people.

It's still offensive. Are you going to get on the case of everyone who got into archeology because of Indiana Jones? What about everyone who got into space exploration because of Star Wars? Or what about everyone who got into the medical field because of any number of the medical dramas on nowadays?

Getting into a subject because of fandom isn't the same thing as getting into a subject because of cute male characters (which is all that Hetalia really has going for it).

It's not just about the fandoms. Indiana Jones is a sexy beast. Star Wars has Han Solo. Every main character in every medical drama is somehow attractive. And you can bet your ass that it's because of these characters.

I think you're being pretty damn picky about what are "valid" reasons to get into your field. I think that if a girl wants to get into a field, there are no "invalid" reasons and it's pretty strange to tell her "oh, your reason isn't good enough! Pick another field to be interested in, or at least find a better reason!" (which, especially from your comments a bit higher up, sounds a lot like "gtfo my field, you whore who has hormones that every once in a while cause you to stumble upon some cool stuff!" And if that's not misogynistic, I don't know what is. Women are allowed to be sexual creatures and be interested in, gasp, cute boys.)
