THIS. In fact, my psychology major within me is utterly baffled because this is a common thing for people to get into a certain subject because of a show or whatnot. I mean, if someone got interested in psychology because of Evangelion or Monster, good for them (personally, while I wasn't into Eva all that much, I could understand if people research on psychology because of it). Personally, I did it because I'm the type of person people go to for talking and giving advice and the human mind is an extremely fascinating thing.

Although admittedly, I should've gone so deeply into Cognitive Psychology. Maybe I could avoided the dreaded class that is Psychology of Language (despite I wrote a subject heavily related to it as my senior thesis LOL).

Those series had something else going for them, though. (Like an in-depth plot, for one thing.) Hetalia is just a gag comic with a bunch of cute guys and some token random cute girls thrown in. It's not any deeper than that and most people seem to be into it for the slash aspect (which I don't have a problem with).

Eva doesn't have much of a in-depth plot than being Anno's cry for help.

Hetalia is gag humor, it's not going to have a plot most of the time, but it seems have surprisingly fascinating characters for a gag humor comic and occasional serious strip as well. Laugh at that as much as you want to.

Maybe some are, but stop acting like it's the only reason. You hate it and that seems to cloud your judgment more often than not.
