Actually there already been fics that went out of WW2 and Europe. Hetalia, believe it or not, covers more than WW2, y'know. Not that learning a certain part of history is wrong since there are historians that specialize in a certain part of history. Even if for fandom purposes, they are still learning something out of it. They are learning history as much as it seems to pain you.

It not like History Channel doesn't do their work either although it usually spurn me to research certain things.

A book isn't the only way to learn about something, sorry to say. Even upper college level courses aren't immune to use other media to reach their students.

Not that learning a certain part of history is wrong since there are historians that specialize in a certain part of history.

Not that there aren't new things to learn about WWII, but that area of history has been popular for fifty years, at least in the United States, and has been researched and overanalyzed to death already. Also, I hate this idea (also perpetuated by the History Channel War and Nazi Channel) that WWII is somehow the pinnacle of history, the end-all, be-all, as if nothing else ever happened in all of human history.

Not to mention that history is more than just about war and conflicts between nations. Where all the intellectual and cultural historical research coming out of the Hetalia fandom?

While I don't deny that America has this weird obsession about WW2, to the point that they used the nickname the generation of that time "The Greatest Generation" now (thank you, Tom Brokaw), which is utterly annoying to me to the point that it even nauseated me to see anything of the subject another than learning more the struggle of the oppressed people who suffered through it (and I'm not knocking the selfless contribution of the people in this time, but honestly...).

Although, I do give History Channel some slack that they do other things half the time now and have a History International channel, although they getting the reality show bug too... Actually, I prefer to watch historical documentaries on Discovery (well back when Discovery got bombarded by the reality show bug) or Sundance channel when History Channel was busy jerking off on WW2.

On the other hand, I kinda get the psychological attachment to it. It was the last recent "big" war that a lot of people around the world got involved and affected by. It was the beginning of the end of America's isolationism and how America got directly involved in it through Pearl Harbor, which, until 9/11, was the one the biggest tragedies committed by a foreign party.

Look in the fandom, it's not that hard to find.
