Not everyone has or wants to use a streaming service, in which case, if you want to hear an album, the simplest thing to to is usually to buy it. Which, yeah, means you sometimes end up buying something you don't wind up liking.

Major same, OP. Good for her, but yeah, I distinctly prefer the originals. There were just so many little nuances of delivery in the originals that made them shine, and a lot of those nuances are missing or dulled in the rerecordings. The new versions are smoother, and also...idk, chiller? But I didn't like the originals for their chill, so the rerecordings being chiller (less urgently earnest, maybe?) makes them less good, to me, not better.

Yeah, I don't like them either. I mean, good for her, you know, but I like the old versions better. I don't think you should feel guilty though. We don't have to like everything our favorite artists do.

When you feel an artist you love has been wronged by being denied the right to own their own work, it's not remotely stupid to want to support their efforts to own said work. Have fun being cynical and not giving a shit though, I guess. It sure does make you look cool.

Any artist of integrity will prefer people buy things they like, not out of some kind of peculiar obligation, particularly if they're out of the 'starving artist' category of finances.

Dude, I didn't prefer it to the original myself, but no amount of effort and wishing-it-were-so from you is going to make it an "embarrassment" when it received almost unanimous critical praise and sold like a hot damn.
