Just managed to be calm and quiet enough to take pics of the baby bunny that lives in my yard (presumably "one of" but I've only ever seen one at a time), because I thought to actually look at the spot I've seen it dart back into the brush from multiple times. Looked from a distance, saw fur and ears, went back and grabbed my phone. It is soooo cute, about the size of my hand.

Does not quite make up for my disappointment/relief that the domestic bun that my coworker's family found and asked me about is now at a "real" rescue. I probably should not adopt more rabbits, so I recommended calling a rescue, but... I also want to know and spoil and love on all rabbits. :/

Bunnies are awesome! I'm glad someone cares about them.

I feel the same every time I have to go to the pet store to buy hay and I see a cute baby bunny who's going to be adopted by somebody who will put it in a cage. I hate that I can't buy it instead but I've got a bunny who was mistreated and is incredibly territorial and aggressive towards pretty much everything and everyone, so my vet told me it would be an awful idea to try to find him a companion.

Yeah, that's the problem with animal rescue. You literally can't save all of them. All you can really do is try to do right by those you can save. I was talking about this instance on FB earlier and had a friend point out that I can put my energy and resources into spoiling my four that much more, and that other bun will make someone else's family happy. And she's probably right - at least I know that if it's a rescue and not a shelter, they'll vet people beforehand to make sure they know what they're getting into. (All the rescues around here know better than to just adopt them out to anyone...)
