For a book I’m writing:

I’ve got an evil psychiatrist who eventually manipulates the main character into doing something for her (not important what), but I want her to start out seeming helpful and/or legi.

I’m having a hard time figuring out what a real psychiatrist would ask a patient during the first appointment. The patient suffers from some issues with attachment and from anxiety. They are also both psychic (and not human) but that’s not too important to my question here. I just want to start with a basis in reality and twist it from there.

In my experience, that first appointment is usually about getting to know each other. They'll want to find out why you're there. they'll ask you questions about your background and give you time to answer.

Yup. They'll ask for sensations that would justify an appointment.
