Sounds like you'd love the really old school maps. The ones which are basically 'This town to another town' then short paragraphs describing each key point or turning along the way. :)

Ooo, sounds like I might. Also, weirdly, I like maps of fictional worlds. I still can't figure them out at all, but I like looking at them anyway.

The descriptive 'maps' (routefinders? I can't remember their actual name) are very Tolkeinesque almost so I think you would. I'll try and hunt out an example if I can figure out the right Google keywords. :)
