The faux action girl?

Pushed, yes. It's poor writing in general when a show just tells and doesn't show. It's not enough to simply say "Character X is spunky." It's just plain lazy to shove em' into the corner.

Being an interesting/developed character and being feminine aren't mutually exclusive. Sometimes fandom forgets that.

I don't think I ever implied that feminine can't mean interesting or developped, but I there are just so many feminine girls as opposed to girls that aren't and the lack of diversity in female characters is frustrating.

That and in a lot of fandoms which are action based most of the focus is going to be on the fighting and the conflict, and when the only ones who get to engage in that kind of things are boys, while the girls are being the housewives and the healers and the girlfriends, it just...it doesn't look good. But then the girl can fight and be feminine too.

It is a complicated thing, because it isn't like a simple trade or whatever would solve it.

No, I wasn't implying that you implied that. (Say that 10 times fast!)

I think creativity can solve it, and give female characters cooler roles. Sadly, creativity is a rare commodity in 90% of everything.
