I love reaction videos in concept but in practice I find them very uncomfortable because I always spend the whole time asking "OK, is this sincere or are you playing this up for the cameras"

I guess it's less pronounced when the people reacting aren't trying to make a living off YouTube but still not great

Various Africans try Haitian snacks while getting increasingly drunk on Haitian rum. Every Nigerian in the video gives Haiti immediate brofists over food. This one pairing of a guy and a girl are on exactly the same drunk wavelength over bread and biscuits. It's amazing.

I'm trying to figure out how you mash potatoes poorly.

If you mash them too much they become all pasty and glue-like because you overwork the starch or something.

In my school years I have seen many a mashed potato horror.

Also the first time I made mashed potatoes I made myself sick when I ate them.

Too lumpy and the texture isn't pleasant, too much mashing and it gets this weird paste-like texture. And then of course, there's the issue of seasoning, which people can get wrong.

You can over-boil the potatoes and then mash them and they end up watery and too thin and gluey.

You can over mash them and they end up like a nasty paste, similar to 'instant' mash.

You can under mash them and they end up lumpy and hideous.

You can use the wrong type of potatoes (the more waxy type, like New Potatoes instead of the fluffy kind) and the texture is all wrong because waxy potatoes mash badly.

You can add too much butter, add too little butter, add too much milk, add too little milk etc. And you can over-season. You can also under season, but that's easier to fix post-serving on an individual basis.

If you don’t cook the potatoes long enough or if your potato chunks aren’t a uniform size so the small pieces cook long before the big pieces, you end up with the most depressing and gross-ass lumpy mash potatoes.
