Um. I can never watch the ending of "The Muppet Movie" because I start bawling when I see them reinacting the story of how they got to where they were. It makes me think of Jim Henson's death, too.

And then when I got his memorial concert on DVD, I fucking cried hardcore. I still haven't seen anything so sad as that. And I really never admit it, because who want's to have the image of Big Bird sobbing in your head? Not me. It will just make you even sadder when you watch Sesame Street. :(

You need to. This concert was on tv, PBS I think, and those lucky to have taped it are lucky. And it's something you can certainly buy from online traders and such (that's how I got mine). But really, you hear people talk about Jim Henson and you get more respect for him than ANY biography book. Because these are people whose lives he changed for the better.

(Have you read Kermit's "autobiography", Look Before You Leap? It's adorable. And has a Jim Henson tribute page that made me sob. Sigh.)

Yeah, I have all of them. Another thing you need to look into is Jim Hensons' Life Works book. It's an *expensive* book, but there is a letter he has at the back of the book like a month before he died. He like knew he was going to die soon, and he writes some really sob worthy stuff in there too.

Read them, read them! I just watched the Temple du Souliel episode last night. I love that one, my favourite.

It's a callous individual who can make it through that performance of "Just One Person" without crying. But then I remember that he left instructions for it not to be a sad affair, but to celebrate what's come before. He said it himself:

"Please watch out for each other and love and forgive everybody. It's a good life, enjoy it."

Dude, I can't even make it through the Muppet's Celebrate Jim Henson version of that song either! Just hearing those letters recited beforehand makes me sob there too. Esp. the one that Miss Piggy reads.

Well, even if I cried, I wouldn't feel SHITTY - this is a service made with such an outpouring of love that it's kinda hard to feel that way.

Shitty in a sense of love. Like, you just wish that you could have given everyone a hug. And that you would have urged the man to get to a hospital.

In the new Sesame Street book, there is a two page summary of Jim's last telephone call (the one that sent him to the hospital).

Okay, as someone who isn't even that big of a Muppets fan (but did grow up watching it), your comments and all the others about Jim Hensen's funeral service thing provoked me to go watch it on YT.

I watched Big Bird sing It's Not Easy Being Green...

And now I'm fucking crying my eyes out.
