122 IA, but it's a give and take. While there's emo Cloud fics with him shooting himself singing Celine Dion (I'm not making that shit up), some new Compilation fans get curious about the older game, check it out, and then bring pretty decent fic/art for it. Don't get me wrong, I still want to throttle Nomura to just REMAKE THE DAMN GAME ALREADY. Do not have Denzel grow up and inherit Cloud's sword and fight Genesis, do not give Genesis his own pre-game, just GIVE ME FFVII so I can have Aerith cross-dress Cloud on a PS3. But with secret/unlockable Cloud/Aerith/Zack ending maybe please thanks?!

113/178. Shiloh/GR only works for me as weird and out there, not cutsey, so far I haven't found a fic that satisfies my need for the pairing yet. And as for 178, not my cup of tea, but go for it -- the fandom can use some more variety in the fic department.

I'm pretty sure that if they did a remake, they would methodically strip out anything fun or soulful about the original game until it was basically Final Fantasy VII: Kingdom Hearts Style!

(Not that Kingdom Hearts is not fun, but it's fairly shallow, sanitary and has that new-Nomura aesthetic to it that lends itself well to contrived angst and fake depth).
