Hard to ignore something that doesn't exist, love. He doesn't love her. He was attracted to her, yeah, along with nearly every other male in the cast, and Lizzy with all her hopped-up, missed-my-wedding-night-umf-umf-umf hormones might have momentarily lost her good sense and thought she wanted Jack, but the idea that she'd be anything more than a good roll in the sheets for him is a laugh.

Look at the angry women in Jack's wake if you want any farther proof of that fact. It's been said. Jack loves his ship, his rum, and himself, and that's pretty much as far as that goes. Not to say he can't care about other people, occasionally, but if you're going to try and stretch that all the way over into 'omg he totally loves her' territory, well...that's all it is. A stretch. Wishful thinking.

Not to say you couldn't find meaningful moments and subtext if you wanted to, but don't kid yourself. It was never going to happen, and if you were honestly paying attention in the first movie, you'd know it.

Go enjoy some hot Jack/Liz fic and get over it, already.

See, I am baffled by the ones going "Oh, I totally though Jack and Liz were gonna hook up!" and I am wondering if they saw the same set of movies I do. Or if they're the same people who got angry that Harry and Hermione didn't end up together. x_x

I am NOT going to diss those who said Jack and Liz should have, because that's their opinion and they're entitled to it. I thought Jack and Will should have hooked up. Difference being I knew starting out that my ship wasn't going to happen.

Doesn't mean I'm going to pitch a fit at the writers for not catering to me.

Yeah seriously. You can ship your OTPs and such long as you know whats actually canon and what isnt. Jack had no feelings like that for Elizabeth. if anything, it would only be lust, as he does with all women. And even notice at the end when she tried to kiss him, Jack had that 'ohhellno!" look and denied her that.

But yeah I get what you're saying but there will always be fanbrats that ruin it for the rest of us.

They're ruining it for themselves as well. That consoles me somewhat.

Yeah. They do the same thing with any ships though. It gets even more annoying when they start shoving their OTP down your throat and calling it canon despite it never has been or will be.

We're just not watching it right! Obviously.

But yeah, that's what raised my hackles at this particular secret. It wasn't just whining about the ship in general. It implies that anyone who doesn't think Jack loved her is in denial, like it's some sort of gospel truth that we're all choosing to overlook.

The irony that they choose to ignore the real canon couple because it doesn't get their panties wet is too hilarious.

Of course we arent! Maybe if we watch it while looking at it upside down, we'll totally see it!

Yeah. I pretty much said 'Jack never loved her. Never will. cry moar, kthx' to them.
