Yeah, it's tough, because I liked them calling each other and talking to each other as they had, and I would've loved to see what could've happened had they met up and continued developing their relationship.

But alas... And you're right about this being a big issue in the show, too. If it'd just been her death alone, it would've sucked, but at least it would've been just the one. But this show did definitely have a tendency to go the dead wife/girlfriend route a LOT, which was frustrating.

Ugh, they really did. I understand that when a show runs that long, people want some sort of emotional investment for the characters, more drama, more angst... but while I loved seeing glimpses into their personal lives, I didn't like how partners (mostly wives/girlfriends) were used like that so often.

Yeah, I love getting more into the characters' lives on shows like this, but it'd be nice to have their lives be a lighter balance to the drama they're already dealing with at work. Or, if you want to have some drama in their personal lives, fine, because it happens...but at least have a little more variety in the kind of drama, especially relationship drama, that you write about.
