I'm not saying it's good but it's absolutely the exact level of writing quality the show had consistently

The first 4.5 seasons were vastly better, which is why people get so pissy about it, I think. You still want to find out what happens to your faves and yet what happens is so fucking dumb and eventually you quit.

IMO the third and fourth seasons were already pretty bad. I mean season 4 has "Mastermind" and that's one of the fucking dumbest episodes of TV I've ever seen.

The Patinkin seasons were less bad in that regard though, that's definitely true.
