I'm a NewWho fan who likes Classic Who, but knows more about the Fifth Doctor than any of the others... because having watched a few serials with several different Doctors, I liked him best and systematically watched all his serials. And I don't only like him because he's pretty - that's just a bonus.

I second everything, and add that in comparison to the first three his are easier to get hold of - anyone tried to find a copy of The Highlanders? Even Ethan Hunt would fail epicly.

Just out of curiousity, which Five story's your favourite out of the ones you've seen?

What's more OP, you could just as easily argue that New/Old Who fans who "claim" to prefer the Four are just going with what's iconic and popular, and people who "claim" to prefer One just watched the first few serials, or the Dalek stories and didn't bother with anything else.

To be honest, you could also argue that anyone who claims to like Two best is probably just fangirling after the Two/Jamie slash.

Well, of course you can't find a copy of The Highlanders, because it doesn't exist anymore. Heard about the burnination? But the Invasion? The Mind Robber? They do.

Really, there are quite a few Five serials that aren't out on DVD yet (mostly the ones with Turlough. I wonder if someone has something against slashy subtext, especially since the other big category that's not out is the Three/Delgado serials). But torrents of all the old Doctors are equally easy to get.

Which shits me off to no small degree, because some of Turlough's serials are amongst my very favourites. *sadface* (Frontios, the Black Guardian trilogy but particularly Enlightenment, and Planet of ~~Shorts~~ Fire. ~~And King's Demons, but apparently it's uncool to admit that >.>~~ )

I'd LOVE to see a remastered, coloured version of Mind of Evil, too. That was the very first classic serial I ever watched. (Nostaaalgia!)

I want to see The Highlanders so much. : (

I like Enlightenment... but also Earthshock (first one I saw, whereupon I fell in love with him), Castrovalva and The Caves of Androzani.

Really. My best friend in this fandom adores the Fifth Doctor. She's seen most of the others, she just likes his personality better; and can explain at length why she prefers him over the Fourth Doctor.

Like, first it's taboo to call the Tenth Doctor your favourite, because you're clearly only in it for the pretty and not a real fan. You should like the Classic Doctors better!

Now people shouldn't like one of the more popular Classic Doctors because he's also pretty? Jesus Christ, let's keep inventing more arbitrary conditions to "real" fandom.

In my opinion, Five is much prettier than Ten. xD

Oh, and I could give a justification for liking Five better as well. Which would not mention the prettiness.

I think the OP is mostly referring to people who haven't even TRIED to watch any of the other Doctors. Which is something that irks me, too.

They seemed to be saying that they assumed anyone who says they like Five is one of those people, though.

To be honest, I haven't watched that many serials with other Doctors, because I loved Five so much that I figured I'd watch all his first (and I'm not quite done yet).
